Horseshoe Mountain Village School – Where Peace, Joy, and Wonder are Nurtured
Horseshoe Mountain Village School is a Charlotte Mason-inspired microschool nestled in the heart of historic Spring City, Utah. Designed for children ages 5 to 13, HMVS offers both full- and part-time programs that combine academic depth with hands-on, real-life learning. More than just a school, it is a nurturing community that prioritizes peaceful relationships, joyful discovery, and a beautiful, liberal arts education.
Founded by seasoned educator Julie Christensen, HMVS reflects over 35 years of experience in education across public, private, university, and homeschool environments. The school’s vision is deeply rooted in the Charlotte Mason philosophy—one that values the whole child and emphasizes the importance of living ideas, nature, habit training, and wonder.
The main campus is located in Spring City’s historic 1902 schoolhouse, and just two blocks away, students enjoy a nature-rich space featuring a large garden, greenhouse, chickens, and outdoor classroom areas. Daily activities may include gardening, sewing, woodworking, baking, poetry, French, art, folk dance, and nature study, alongside strong academics in reading, math, science, geography, and history.
At HMVS, education is slow, intentional, and deeply human. It’s a place where children are free to explore, create, and learn with purpose and joy. Horseshoe Mountain Village School is truly a special place for childhood to flourish.
