Race Cats is a nonprofit youth running organization offering cross country and track & field programs for elementary and middle school students across Utah. With leagues in Davis, Granite, Alpine, Salt Lake, Jordan, and other districts, Race Cats is dedicated to helping kids of all abilities discover the joy of running in a supportive, fun, and achievement-oriented environment.
Our Fall Cross Country Program (September–October) introduces kids to long-distance running, with age-based races ranging from 1K to 3K. Practices are held twice weekly at local schools or parks, and the emphasis is on effort, personal growth, and positive experiences. Each child joins a team with their own jersey and participates in races with other teams in their area.
In the Spring Track & Field Program (starting in April), kids learn to run, jump, and throw across a range of track events. The program is designed to build athletic skills while encouraging teamwork and confidence through multiple meet opportunities.
For students seeking more structure and competitive experiences, Race Cats offers Competition Teams. Open to kids turning 10 or older by year-end, these teams train with experienced coaches and enjoy an extended season and more advanced training to prepare for high school-level competition.
Race Cats is also actively seeking volunteer coaches—no running experience required, just enthusiasm and a love for kids. Coaches receive a full lesson plan, supplies, a stipend, and free registration for their children.
